High-Frequency Modeling and Filter Design for PWM Drives with Long Cables

Aiming at the problems emerging in a pulse width modulation (PWM) drive system with long cables, accurate modeling of power cables is premise for predicting and analyzing these relevant phenomena, proper filter design key solution to problems. This paper proposes high-frequency cable models represent frequency-dependent characteristics, especially resistance which an easily overlooked factor that determines damping overvoltage. The proposed can be used accurately representing characteristics wide frequency range, correctly simulating differential mode (DM) overvoltage common (CM) current, including peak value, oscillation frequency, transient waveform. In addition, improved networks are suppress DM voltage CM merit low losses, small volume, excellent abilities suppressing were validated 750 W PWM 200 m cables.
